Good morning ladies! Just a quick heads up (we knew you’d want to be the first to know) Our bestselling AX Paris floral bandeau maxi dress, £38 is back by popular demand!
A new trend seems to be emerging, spear-headed by the style queen and all-round uber-WAG Victoria Beckham. It’s sexy, it’s sophisticated, it’s the LRD or Little Red Dress, for those not yet fluent in fashion jargon. Our Closet range already channels Victoria’s sleek style, and we’re thinking of introducing this hot shade into the range – but we want to know what you think of it!
Vote in our poll…
One of our favourite style icons, Cheryl Cole is 27 today. We’ve featured Miss Tweedy-to-be in so many of our fashion editorials that we only thought it was right to take the time to say “happy birthday, Chezza”! She’s come a long, looooong way in the style stakes since those early days of Girls Aloud:
For us, festivals are about three things… blazing sunshine (hopefully), brilliant music and fabulous fashion.
For those of you lucky enough to be heading to Glastonbury this weekend, here are a few last minute extras that you might want to pack. If (like us!) you’re a bit adverse to all the mud and camping, then why not listen to the festival on the radio from the comfort of the park or garden? You can still dress the part! Just click the link below to shop all festival fashion, including shades, converse, maxi dresses and more.
Clogs are THE shoe of the moment, as seen on the Catwalk at Chanel and Betty Jackson and of course, on fashionista Alexa Chung and pop princess Pixie Lott. If you’re not quite reaching the dizzying heights of fashion á la Alexa and Co, you might need a helping hand to get this trend right. So that’s where Oli.co.uk step in…
First, you need a bang-on-trend pair of clogs (of course). We love these super-cool tan clogs, designed by cult shoe superstar Claudia Ghizzane for Timeless. And at just £35, they’re a bargain – think of the price per wear (you’re going to be rocking these babies right up to Autumn, trust us)…
The way to wear them is:
- Team your clogs with a floaty floral dress or soft summer tailoring (shorts, blazer and a vest, like Pixie) to counteract their chunky appearance.
- Clogs look best with bare legs and feet, so get working on that DIY pedicure and fake tan!
- Add a denim jacket to your outfit to channel another of this season’s trends – denim and tan leather look great together.
- Keep the rest of your look feminine with relaxed with touseled hair and fresh make up.
And there you have it! Up-to-the-minute style in, well… Minutes. Remember, this look is laid-back, girlie and very, very cool without much effort – perfect for summer.

This week’s TV Baftas gave us another chance to do one of our fave activities… Rating the outfits!
We’re happy to report that there were no major catwalk disasters, in fact the residents of celebsville were pretty well behaved in the style stakes. We were loving ex-Corrie star Tina O’Brien’s choice of outfit – a girlie bandeau dress and a statement clutch bag, definitely a million miles away from what she wore down the Rovers on Coronation Street!:
Click the images below to buy the outfit and steal Tina’s style:
A perfect star style steal without the celebrity price tag! Love it.

It’s the event that launched the careers of some of the cream of British fashion talent, with Stella McCartney and Christopher Kane both being former protégés of Graduate Fashion week . The event showcases the designs of over a thousand students from 35 different fashion colleges from throughout the UK.
We know our fashion-forward readers love a bit of industry goss, so we’re bringing you all the latest news from Graduate Fashion Week which kicked off in London last night. There’s already been some real design talent showcased and it’s only day three of the event!
Ones to watch…
Stephanie Hemphill
We loved Stephanie’s use of a softer colour palette in her bodycon dresses. Mixing nude pinks and smoky greys, she moved this season’s hottest colour trend on into AW10. We’ll definitely be keeping an eye on this East London student.
Bunmi Olaye
Olaye’s collection has already drawn attention from the celeb circuit, with Mischa Barton and Mel B already on her client list. The collection featured lots of geometric prints with a strong African influence – perfect for working the tribal trend.
We love being the first to find out about home-grown fashion talent and that’s what our Oli Fusion collection is all about, bringing you the hottest designer names and exclusive, wearable and affordable collections. Our Oli Fusion collaborations with Olivia Rubin, Sinha Stanic and Poltock and Walsh are all great examples of this. Click the image below to shop all Oli Fusion.

Phew! What a scorcher it is today! it looks like summer has finally made an appearance so we’re gearing up for the weekend and hoping for a nice post-work glass of something fruity whilst sitting in the sunshine…
What better way to make the rest of Friday afternoon fly by than with a bit of celeb style gossip? Lily Allen stole the show at yesterday’s Ivor Novello awards, wearing a floor-length nude gown that echoed this season’s romantic girlie trend perfectly. Lily added an edge to her look with patent red heels and bright red lipstick.
Lily’s dress is super dramatic, but you can easily translate this look for less with this dress by new label Glamorous, for just £35. Click the image below to buy:
For more inspiration, click here to take a look at the whole Glamorous collection – it’s packed with girlie ruffles, soft shades and pretty dresses and takes inspiration from Pixie Lott and SJP. Perfect for sunny weather!
Have a fabulous weekend, fashionistas!

Drum roll please! We’re super-excited to announce the arrival of a new addition to the Style Notes writing team… The very fabulous, very fashionable, Very Simon G! Simon is a freelance fashion journalist and the author of the cult online style blog ‘The Very Simon G‘.
As well as this, Simon has worked on the Sunday Times Style magazine and Heat Magazine, so you can rest safe in the knowledge that his fashion tips are second to none. Here’s his first gorgeous dollop of style advice, enjoy!
Dress for your shape – Cinched waists
The Very Simon G
If there’s one way to define your shape and accentuate your curves it is, strange as it may seem, by drawing attention to the one bit of your body you think you ought to hide – your waist. Yes ladies, it’s time to cinch them in – good and proper!
The 1950s was not only the year of the housewife, it was the year of the housewife’s belted waist. If you look back at images of women in the 50s you’re bound to find them in a pretty tea or sun dress…with an actual wasit. And thanks to the fabulous, sexy burlesque stars of today (Dita Von Teese in particular) along with the fashion A-Listers, the waist is officially back.
Not only is a cinched in wasit reminiscent of yesteryear, the trend (so to speak) was all over the sping summer catwalks. Jil Sander basically belted everything from trouser suits to dresses to coats. Lagerfeld used big statement silver belts on dresses and shorts/blouse combos and Lanvin scultpted the body with tailored dresses that skimed the waist (below).
If, however, your credit card simply won’t stretch to designer threads (and let’s face it, who’s does?!), then Oli.co.uk is definitely the place to shop. You only have to browse through the first few New In products to see that our designers and buyers are taking care of your curves…
Why not go for this Lipsy one shoulder number with embellished waist, £65:
Or this Closet block colour 2 in 1 dress, £35 – perfect for the day with flats or for a party with heels and loads of bangles.
Click on to our ‘Forever Unique‘ brand too – the whole collection will shape your body perfectly. An easy way to perk up a dress you already have is to add a waist-cinching belt, try these ones – just click on the image to buy or click here or shop all belts:
So what you waiting for girls? Let’s get cinching!
